And so it begins...

It's about a quarter after 1 in the morning and I am waiting for my laundry to get done so I can get to bed. I thought I would go ahead and write about my goals for the next couple of months. I really would like to be able to run the Kiawa half-marathon on December 11 and possibly the Spinx half-marathon in Greenville on October 30. I've got a long way to go though and a lot of training to do. In the process of training for these I would like to lose about 30 lbs by the end of the year and ultimately I would like to lose 60 lbs by next summer. I'm really hoping that the running along with a change in diet will help and I'll be able to accomplish those goals.
Off to bed I go...gym in the morning. Got to get this training plan off the ground! :)

Cold and Wet

Lesson learned: Don't run in the pouring rain when it's 30 something degrees outside.

In an attempt to start my training for the Cooper River Bridge Run in March I decided to go running this afternoon--rain or shine. However, it is not just a slight drizzle, but a pouring rain. And the wind chill is 30 something. But I decided to be the hardcore runner I dream about being and went out anyways. I ran until I could no longer feel my fingers--which was a grand total of about 0.25 miles--and then I walked the rest of the way home. Total mileage for today: < 0.75 miles. But the good news is, tomorrow's run will most definitely be better. = )

And so it begins...

My goal is to run the Spinx Runfest 1/2 marathon on October 31 this year. That's quite ambitious seeings how I haven't run consistently in months-- or longer. :( I made a 15 week training program on Runnersworld.com using the Smartcoach program. According to that schedule I needed to have run 2 miles yesterday @ 18:01. I actually ran 2.5 miles at 13:42. The 13:42 is my average mile time. My first mile and a half was pretty decent, but I ended up walking most of the second mile and a half. So my first small goal is to get back to the point where I can run the entire 2 1/2 miles consistently.
